Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report
Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior official commented the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
